Information stored by the app
OgreScribe stores report text, recordings, photos, markers, optional name and company details, an optional logo and app settings in its private storage on your device. The app does not add separate encryption to these files; they rely on the security provided by your device.
Speech pack downloads
When you choose a speech pack, OgreScribe downloads model files from Hugging Face. The host receives the request and technical connection information such as your IP address and request details. Report content is not included in the model download request. Speech recognition runs locally after the model is installed; there is no cloud transcription fallback. The app checks downloaded pack metadata before installing it. Available languages and file sizes are shown in the app because they can change.
Optional folder sync
If you choose a sync folder, OgreScribe copies report files there. Depending on your settings, those files can include text, photos and recordings. The app writes files to the folder you selected; a separate cloud-storage app or provider may upload them under its own terms. Sync-folder files are ordinary files, are not encrypted by OgreScribe, and are not protected by its app lock. You can disconnect the folder in the app; copies already in the folder are not deleted by disconnecting.
Purchases, links and sharing
- Purchases: Apple or Google handles in-app purchase and account details. OgreScribe stores purchase state locally to apply the store entitlement; Ogre Labs does not receive your payment-card details.
- Support and legal links: A link you tap opens the selected page in your browser. The website host receives a request from your device.
- Exports and backups: When you create a PDF, text export or backup, you choose where it goes. The receiving app or storage provider handles its copy.
Permissions
- Microphone: records a walkthrough when you start recording.
- Camera and photo selection: adds photos you take or choose for a report.
- Biometric or device authentication: used only if you enable the optional app lock.
Analytics and advertising
OgreScribe does not require an account and has no report server operated by Ogre Labs. It does not include analytics or advertising services. App Store and Google Play transactions, speech-pack downloads, user-selected links and any sync or sharing destination involve the relevant platform or service as described above.
Deleting information
Use Settings → Delete all data in the app to remove records from that device. This does not delete backups or files already copied to another location. Remove those copies from the storage or sharing service where you saved them. You can remove downloaded speech packs from the app’s model settings.
